Bailiff’s Office Limited provides a range of Bailiff Services to our clients. We have a policy of protecting the privacy of our clients in the course of providing services to them. Our relationship with our clients is based upon trust and maintaining client privacy is, therefore, given the utmost priority.
Bailiff’s Office Limited recognizes the importance of privacy and the sensitivity of personal information. As a Bailiff Service we have professional obligations to keep all confidential information we receive and are committed to protecting any personal information that we hold. This Privacy Policy outlines how we manage personal information and safeguard the privacy of our clients, service providers and other individuals.
Privacy Rights
All businesses engaged in commercial activities must comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). PIPEDA gives rights concerning the privacy of personal information.
Bailiff’s Office Limited is responsible for the personal information we collect and hold. To ensure accountability, we have developed this Privacy Policy, and trained our staff about our policies and practices.
Personal Information Collected
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, personal information is given the same meaning as it is given applicable privacy legislation from time to time. Currently, Canadian privacy legislation defines personal information as any information that identifies an individual, or any information by which an individual’s identity could be deduced. Generally, personal information does not include what is usually considered to be business contact information, including your name, title or position, business address, telephone number or facsimile number.
The types of personal information that we may collect includes name, home address, telephone number, personal e-mail address, billing and account information, and other information incidental to providing Bailiff services.
We collect information only by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way.
Disclosure of personal information
Bailiff’s Office Limited will disclose personal information only under certain circumstances. These circumstances include, but are not limited to the following:
- When required or authorized by law to do so;
- When consent for disclosure is obtained;
- If we engage a third party, bound by this Privacy Policy, to provide services to us;
- If the information already publicly known.
Bailiff’s Office Limited does not disclose personal information to any third party to assist the third party in marketing their products or services. We do not provide our client mailing lists to other firms.
Our company takes all reasonable precautions to ensure that personal information is kept safe from loss, unauthorized access and disclosure, and modification. Reasonable precautions take include:
- Premises security;
- Restricted file access to personal information;
- Technological safeguards to prevent hacking, viruses and unauthorized computer access, as much as is possible. It should be noted that e-mail is not a 100% secure medium regardless of the steps taken to secure it. Individuals should be aware of this when using e-mail to send confidential and personal information to Bailiff’s Office Limited; and
- Implementing and employing internal password and security policies.

Bailiff’s Office Limited regularly reviews all of its policies and procedures and reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time.
This Privacy Policy includes examples but is not intended to be restricted in its application such examples, therefore, where the word "including" is used, it shall mean "including without limitation".
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. This Privacy Policy does not create or confer upon any individual any rights or impose upon Bailiff’s Office Limited any rights or obligations outside of, or in addition to, any rights or obligations imposed by Canada’s federal and provincial privacy laws, as applicable. Should there be, in a specific case, any inconsistency between this Privacy Policy and Canada’s federal and provincial privacy laws, as applicable, this Privacy Policy shall be interpreted, in respect of that case, to give effect to and comply with such privacy laws.
